Refund & Returns Policy
Your rights, our responsibilities, and how returns, cancellations and warranty claims work for shipping containers.
At Container Sphere and through our official website (https://containersphere.com/), we pride ourselves on delivering shipping containers across the United States. Due to the industrial nature, physical dimensions, substantial weight, and specialized transport requirements of shipping containers, the return and exchange process differs significantly from standard retail merchandise.
We strongly urge all customers to thoroughly inspect product descriptions, dimensions, condition gradings (such as Wind & Watertight or One-Trip), and site preparation guidelines prior to completing a purchase. This Refund and Returns Policy outlines your rights, our responsibilities, and the protocols for managing returns, cancellations, exchanges, and warranty claims. By purchasing from Container Sphere, you agree to abide by the terms set forth in this policy.
1. 30-Day Return Window & Eligibility
- The 30-Day Timeline: Customers have a 30-day return window, beginning on the calendar date the shipping container is delivered and offloaded at the customer’s designated site.
- Notification Requirement: Any intent to return a unit, report a defect, or request an exchange must be communicated to our support team within this 30-day timeframe via email or telephone.
- Condition Preservation: To remain eligible for any return, exchange, or partial credit, the shipping container must be in the same physical condition it was in when dropped off by our carrier. It must be free from any post-delivery structural alterations, modifications, painting, cutting, welding, or customer-inflicted damage.
- Proof of Purchase: Every return request must be accompanied by the original order confirmation email, receipt, and the signed Bill of Lading (BOL) containing notes written at the time of delivery.
2. Return Categories
A. Defective or Incorrectly Supplied Units
- Our Guarantee: Container Sphere performs a 5-point quality inspection prior to dispatch. If a unit arrives with structural deficiencies that violate its stated grade (such as a structural leak in a Wind & Watertight container), or if an incorrect size or grade was delivered, you are protected.
- Resolution Options: Upon verification of a legitimate error or defect, Container Sphere will arrange one of the following remedies at no additional cost to you: correcting the defect on-site; a direct exchange and replacement of the non-compliant unit; or a 100% full refund of the purchase price.
- Fee Waivers: In cases of verifiable defects or dispatch errors, all return shipping, freight handling, and restocking fees are waived.
B. Non-Defective / Change of Mind Returns
- Eligibility: If you decide to return a container due to personal preference, a change of project scope, or a failure to properly measure site clearance requirements, we accept returns within the 30-day window under the conditions below.
- Restocking Fee: A 17% restocking fee (calculated from the item’s purchase price) is assessed on all non-defective returns. This fee covers inspection labor, inventory restocking logistics, and administrative processing.
- Freight and Transportation Responsibility: For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for the specialized return freight back to our designated regional depot.
C. Custom-Built and Modified Containers
- Non-Refundable: Any shipping container that has undergone custom modifications requested by the customer (such as custom-cut personnel doors, windows, HVAC installations, specialized electrical packages, or custom industrial paint jobs) is final sale and non-refundable.
- Exceptions: Custom units are only eligible for return or adjustment if they arrive with a verified, major structural manufacturing defect.
3. Return Logistics, Shipping Responsibility, and Fees
- Specialized Transport Coordination: Because shipping containers cannot be shipped via standard parcel services, returns require heavy-duty transport equipment, such as tilt-beds, side-loaders, or flatbed trailers.
- Customer-Paid vs. Company-Paid Freight: For customer-initiated, non-defective returns, you must contract a qualified heavy-haul carrier or coordinate through our logistics network at your own expense. For defective or mis-shipped items, Container Sphere arranges and pays for the return transport.
- Deduction of Fees: For approved non-defective returns, the 17% restocking fee and any agreed-upon logistics charges will be deducted from the final refund amount once the unit is received and inspected at our facility.
4. Order Cancellation Policy
- Pre-Dispatch Cancellations: If you cancel your order before it has been processed, assigned to a carrier, or dispatched from our yard, there is no penalty and a full refund will be issued.
- Post-Dispatch Cancellations: Shipping is free on completed orders. However, if an order is cancelled after the container has been loaded onto a transport truck and dispatched toward your delivery address, or if delivery is refused on-site for reasons unrelated to product defects or transit damage, the customer is responsible for the outbound delivery costs actually incurred and the return freight, plus the standard 17% restocking fee.
5. Refund Processing Procedures & Timelines
- Inspection Stage: Upon return of the container to our facility, our quality assurance team confirms that the unit matches its original delivered condition and has no unauthorized modifications.
- Processing Window: Once the return passes inspection, approved refunds are processed within 7 business days.
- Method of Reimbursement: Funds are returned using the original payment method used at checkout.
- Financial Institution Delays: Container Sphere initiates the refund immediately after inspection approval; please allow an additional 3 to 10 business days for your bank, card issuer, or payment processor to post the funds. Because shipping is free on completed orders, no shipping fee is refunded. Any delivery costs charged under Section 4 are non-refundable except in cases of company error or verified product defects.
6. How to Initiate a Return, Exchange, or Cancellation
- Contact Customer Support: Email info@containersphere.com or call +1 (971) 509-7539. Provide your order number and the reason for your request.
- Submit Visual Documentation: Attach clear photographs or video showing the current condition of the container, highlighting any defects or damage, or showing that the unit remains unaltered.
- Receive Return Authorization: Once our team reviews your submission and verifies eligibility, we will issue a Return Authorization Number (RAN) and provide instructions for pickup scheduling or freight coordination.
- Prepare the Unit for Pickup: Ensure the container is cleared of personal items, accessible for heavy equipment retrieval, and positioned safely on firm, level ground matching our site preparation requirements.
